Never disappointed with NEC.......2007-05-31

I'm so super-excited about this monitor. I did a fair amount of research before purchasing this and determined it to be radical due to its refresh rate, contrast ratio, and the fact that it's one of the few with USB ports built-in (four of them to be exact... two of which are next to the power/video outputs meant for attaching to your computer tower and two on the side for pen drives and such).

This is my second NEC with the plexiglass over the actual screen. Stoked about how slick the glossiness makes it look and its protective properties.

Killer monitor. Life cereal is awesome.

excellent monitor, great value.......2007-04-30

This is an excellent monitor, and at Amazon's price, an amazingly good value. I bought two of these for my kids, after doing a ton of research. I was a bit sceptical, until I hooked them up and checked them out (using normal stuff, plus games, photos, and dvd video) -- the visuals are bright and sharp, the response time is excellent, everything looks very good.

Just make sure you use the native resolution, of course, and use the DVI cable that comes in the box. (Check your video card to make sure you have DVI output.)

You will read in some online reviews that the screens are glossy, and that some people don't like that. I find I have neither any objection, nor any problem with reflections or whatever (the lights in the room are overhead). But make your own decision on this.

This monitor is absolutely spectacular to look at. Every review I have seen so far completely misses the point of this display. This screen is designed to be the brightest, most attractive all around picture in it's class, and it succeeds there. However, you have to put a glossy screen in the right lighting. If you do, you will never see reflections. If you don't get your room lighting correct, you may be bothered by reflections.

Everyone who owns a laptop with a glossy screen knows this. (Try to pair a glossy laptop screen with a matte display and you will be dissapointed.) Set a glossy macbook next to a matte one in indirect lighting and there is no comparison, the glossy screen is much brighter and sharper. Set the NEC next to any other 19" matte display on the market today and the NEC blows them away.

Apparently, every reviewer, and even every store that sells displays, sets the NEC in a room full of direct lights. A shame.

I own and love this display. Same pixel width as a 13" macbook, BTW.
