Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Bang for your buck.......2007-04-17

Strengths:
Inexpensive. Great contrast ratio. Good brightness. VGA & DVI Connections. 5 ms pixel response time. 3 yr warranty.

Weaknesses:
No height adjustment. Non-powered speakers (barely audible). No DVI cable. Have to go into the OSD menu to switch between inputs.

Summary:
I was able to get this for about $213 from Staples.com. I only dinged it a little for the weaknesses since I am not utilizing any of those features. I turned the brightness down & the contrast up. So having a lower brightness than a lot of the more expensive ones didn't really matter for me. I watched a movie & played a game on it with no ghosting.

My next purchase is a tuner card, so I can remove the 25" TV from my room. Not only did I free up some desk space, but I will free up a corner of my room. Size does matter.

4 out of 5 stars Nice monitor.......2007-04-16

First impression: it has a sleek, clean minimalist appearance. It seems to weight almost nothing and the stand is entirely plastic. The picture quality is very bright (I had to turn mine down to 70), colors seem accurate, and the picture and text are extremely sharp via DVI (cable not included). Some people have complained about a less-than-sharp picture. Those people must be LCD first-timers. I've had nearly a dozen LCDs in the past 5-years, and an important rule for LCD sharpness is they MUST be run at NATIVE resolution! Anything less than native resolution and you're asking for a blurry picture. The native resolution of this monitor is 1680x1050, so be sure your video card is up to snuff.

I found the speakers to be handy for Windows sounds. They're weak, but not the worst I've heard. They're comparable in sound quality to a clock radio or cell phone/PDA speaker. I have the volume cranked to max on the monitor and about 2/3 of the way up on the PC's volume control and that's about comfortable for me. The speakers are more suitable for an office-type environment, NOT for gaming or being immersed into music.

This monitor uses the same 6-bit TFT-TN Chi Mei Optoelectronics (CMO) as most other 22" monitors, and ALL 22" monitors are 6-bit TFT-TN. A drawback to the CMO panel is backlight bleeding (slightly brighter glow on the edges when displaying a black screen), color temperature shift from top to bottom due to poor vertical viewing angles, and the fact that it's a 6-bit panel so it only displays a true 262k colors (16.2m is due to dithering). My particular monitor had almost no backlight bleed and the colors were good enough that it's difficult to notice it's a 6-bit panel. You won't find better picture than this in a Dell 22" or early Samsung 22" (225BW) because they use the SAME CMO panel (and so does Acer, Benq, HP, Gateway, Envision, Sceptre, etc - most 22" on the market).

5 out of 5 stars Does what it's suppose to...for cheap..........2007-04-15

i'm giving it a 5 to balance out the overall rating of the product...some users have reported problems when those have nothing to do with the monitor itself..

considering i snagged this 22" lcd for $199 + tax at staples...it's a bargain..

it has high def resolution of 1080p and design is pretty slick with slim bezel..

speaker is nothing to brag..but who buys this for speaker? if anything i don't want extra chunky speaker attached to a LCD MONITOR..

it has both DVI and VGA...cheap models often come with only VGA input...this has both and DVI aids in visual improvement over VGA..

the fault i found on this LCD though..is that it has POOR viewing angle..from side to side..it is more than ok..but from top to bottom it is horrible..for example..if you move window from top to bottom in windows xp...that blue strip you see on IE6 will change color due to this..(from lighter blue to darker blue..tho not too noticeable when you are casual but it's there)

not too much of an issue at this price range though..but obviously if you do some kind of color critical mission or just overly sensitive to color uniformity..stay AWAY despite its price tag..i recommend Samsung,LG, or Dell for those color conscious users..

other than that issue..it does what it's suppose to do.. so if you can get over the fault..get it now..

4 out of 5 stars Excellent Value.......2007-02-25

I bought this monitor for less than $280.00 and I am totally satisfied with it's quality and performance. I upgraded from a 19" Viewsonic CRT monitor so this is my first LCD. I compared the V7 with other monitors costing much more and I couldn't justify paying the extra money.

2 out of 5 stars Not to happy.......2007-02-07

I thought the price of the product was reasonable but the quality was not. The integrated speakers were very quite even though I increased the factory set volume from 50% to 100%. I could hardly hear anything.

The other problem was with the text. I had a very difficult time reading the text on the screen. It was not even close to being sharp. The proper resolution adjustments were made but to no avail.
