Great Viewing Quality/Warning If Mounting.......2003-05-16

I purchased this monitor for my wife and have set it up on an older Micron Millennia PC with a PIII and Creative NVIDIA TNT2 Pro video card. I had absolutely no problems in the setup and it is currently providing exceptional viewing quality. I didn't expect much from the speakers so I wasn't disappointed. The sound is very tinny.
I also purchased a Kensington Flat Panel DeskMount Arm #60601 ([Amazon.com]). The two go together very well but be forewarned! When the Samsung monitor is folded up for mounting, the monitor housing cannot be used for positioning. This could very easily damage the monitor. You must reach around the housing and grab the base. This is very ackward and difficult. The VESA mounting of this monitor seems to be an afterthought and not thought out very carefully. Also neither the screws provided with the monitor or the arm are long enough. You will need to purchase longer 4mm screws. This is because the mounting plate provided by Samsung does not provide a flush surface for mounting to the arm's adapter. This was also true with the Inland u-Mount LCD Monitor Arm 200 that I originally purchased for this use. (This Inland unit was pure junk and I took it back before ordering this unit by Kensington.) Be prepared to do some fine tuning on the arm unit, being that it uses friction for most of its positioning surfaces. It's hard to find an adjustment that is not too tight or too loose.
