Customer Reviews:
I like the backlit keys.......2007-05-22
It's light and compact too. Just a basic keyboard, no extra function keys or frills, and the palm rest is a little flimsy, just a piece of plastic that comes off when you move the keyboard around. It's a little pricey for what you get, but I'm happy with it.
The best keyboard I ever had!.......2007-05-19
I absolutely love this keyboard. I use my computer mainly at night and do not want to disturb my husband and this keyboard does it's job very well. I can see the letters clearly with it's blue light which gives my computer a high tech image. I love it.
Do Not Buy.......2007-05-10
LOVED this keyboard for the first few months - great touch - love the backlighting - very cool plus I work in low light often. But then it stopped working - keys don't respond - rebooting helps for a while. I let it sit for a couple menths then plugged it back in and it worked fine for about a month then went bad again. Based on what I have read this is not a fluke but how these keyboards "work" or don't work - all glowing reviews are from people in their first few months of use. Great keyboard if you want to spend $35 for 6 months... still looking for a dependable illuminated keyboard...
Gaminng in the dark.......2007-05-09
The Saitek Eclipse is an excellent choice for users in need of illuminated keys. It has not created any problems. Has worked perfectly since first attached. I would purchase another one if I needed it. The Keys are as easy to read in the day with the illumination function turned off as they are in the dark with it activated.
Cool looking basic gaming keyboard .......2007-05-01
I've owned the Saitek Eclipse over a year and it is a good keyboard. If you want a high quality keyboard with soft and responsive keys then this keyboard fits the bill. Although I originally purchased it as a gaming keyboard I have found that it is actually more comfortable to type on then any of my previous keyboards (I've used Microsoft, Dell, and Gateway keyboards...and tested out several others--most of which have cheap/flimsy keys in comparison) The lighted Keys are also a selling point for the Eclipse and make the keys look cool in the dark, but are not especially useful. While the light helps a little in the dark, the laser etched letters really do not let enough light through to be useful while gaming in the dark. (the light is also a little directional, and unless you are positioned above the keyboard the letters on the keys are not clear in the dark). Despite this, I still highly recommend this keyboard. It feels great to type on (the main function of a keyboard!) and looks good to boot.
The keyboard gets a 4 out of 5 because of the lack of multimedia keys. I have also noticed that it does not work properly when playing the game Advent Rising...a glitch causes the game to make the room spin uncontrollably (a confirmed problem between this game and this keyboard), but I haven't noticed this problem with any other games. In fact it has worked flawlessly with Call of Duty (1 & 2), Battlefield (2 & 2142), Quake IV, Titan Quest, Elderscrolls Oblivion, Supreme Commander, psychonaughts, etc.]
