Product Description

For the same cost as the original iMac several years ago, the new iMac provides a host of breakthroughs, including a stunning flat-panel display, blazing-fast G4 processor, the remarkable Mac OS X operating system, and a number of preinstalled software applications.Numbers alone can't do the new iMac justice, of course. After all, how do you quantify such attributes as friendliness, ease of use, freedom to convert an unlimited number of songs from your CDs into MP3 files, and a built-in fun factor that's clear off the charts? You might even say that the new iMac's most widely quoted statistic may be how fast it lets first-time users connect to the Internet - right out of the box. In the past that number has varied, depending on how long each individual owner paused to admire the iMac after unpacking it. And chances are, given the new iMac's futuristic good looks, this time around your first look could take rather a long time indeed.

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars I like mine but I know I paid too much.......2003-02-13

I am pretty used to the MacOs so I stuck with it when I decided to buy a new computer. However comparing what I got to a Windows PC didn't make me feel good. For 1/2 the price you can buy a PC with the same features, flat screen and speed. So I paid over 500 more for the privilege of using the MacOS. If I knew how to use Windows I would have switched. I was pretty steamed.

5 out of 5 stars World-class computing.......2003-01-25

It's such a pleasure to work in OS X, especially on such a beauty as my iMac. I dread having to test our sites on our PC--what a mess that poor thing is. Even our Linux technical administrator hates the PC, and is converting to the Mac.

I don't know how many nights I've simply stepped away, let the Energy Saver sleep the monitor and the machine, and come back in the morning and check my email int the near instant my iMac wakes up--with no crashes, wierd problems (that plagued OS 9 and Windows).

Why people choose to ignore the Mac, or make judgements without thoroughly investigating computing is beyond me.

5 out of 5 stars Another wonderful Apple product.......2002-12-04

Why in the world would anyone want the hassle of Windoze when you can have an art piece like this? I guess some people like self abuse. A truly wonderful computer.

5 out of 5 stars The nearly perfect computer.......2002-12-02

I have been a PC user for years. I even work for a software company that only runs PC's. I finally made the switch and love the new iMac. I will start with the only negative since that list is so short. I wish I would have bought the 17 inch. That was my choice, not the computers. I had the machine up and running in minutes. I had it sharing an internet connection with my three PC's in a few more minutes. I was importing digital pictures from my camera next. All of this in less than 30 minutes. I then hooked up my printer and printed some pictures. Just like the ad's say, I never loaded any drivers, had any crashes or any other problems. A great screen, fast processor and easy to use. I will be burning my first DVD later today so stay tuned or should I say ituned....

5 out of 5 stars Awesome - best desktop computer ever.......2002-11-24

This is the first Mac that I have ever owned, although years ago I used them at work. After using this for a few months I could never return to the land of Windows computing. Last night I installed Microsoft Office v.X on the computer in 5 minutes! No restarting either! Compare that to your Pentium 4 running Windows XP - you will be lucky if you can install MS Office in 1 hour and 2 restarts.

These computers don't crash and work right out of the box. There is some adjustment necessary to deal with the different interface, but within a matter of hours you will be productive and happy with your new iMac. I liked it so much in fact that I also acquired a Powerbook to take with me on business trips.....
