Product Description
Get more hookup flexibility for your digital components with this versatile optical switch. This optical switch lets you connect up to 3 different optical digital components to a component with only one optical digital input. This is a round selector switch which allows you to connect up to three units with a digital optical jack and route any one of the three to a source unit with a digital optical jack. There are four optical digital jacks. One jack is connected to the unit to which you want to add more optical jacks to (normally a digital receiver). The other three jacks are connected to the units which you want to connect to the other unit. Switch easily between sources instead of disconnecting and reconnecting cables when needing to change inputs. You manually select which of the three units you want to select (only one can be selected at a time) with a dial on the top of the unit. A red marker shows which of the three units is selected. The compact design will fit in tight areas between components.
Customer Reviews:
Didn't work.......2007-06-10
I even tried adjusting the cables as advised by some of the other owners, but the splitter still did not work. All of my cables work fine so the splitter is the problem.
Didn't work at all..........2007-06-09
Like the last reviewer, I must have got a "bad unit". Or, quality of these units has somehow declined drastically. Based on the former (good) reviews I went ahead and purchased one of these. After hookup I found that it didn't seem to work at all! So, I had to start testing individual cables between units (without the switch in the middle) to see if there were any bad cables. They were all fine, so I knew it was the switch. I hooked everything back up with the switch and found that it would work SOMETIMES if I moved the cables in a certain way, but would usually cut out again when the unit was placed on a flat surface. Most of the time it wouldn't work at all. So, for me it is useless and I'm looking for something else...very disappointed.
I got a bad unit.......2007-05-21
I bought one of these from ANTonline through amazon a few months ago. I was startled to find it didn't work when I first used it. Then after jiggling my cables a bit, I hear some sound come through. Later I found the best way to keep it working is to hange the output cable on something hook-like so that the connection was made. I had thought it was the cables at first, but using them one at a time directly into the receiver, I found it was indeed the switch. I'm a little irked, but this is better than plugging and unplugging.
A good temporary solution..........2007-03-31
until you can swing the cash for a new A/V receiver. I bought this because my Denon receiver has only 1 optical input and I have a DVD player, DVR, and 2 game systems with optical outputs and I got tired of having to plug/unplug stuff whenever I wanted to watch a movie, play a game, etc. As far as I can tell, there doesn't seem to be much in the way of signal degradation that I can notice audibly, but what I did notice is that my receiver's 5.1 audio lights seem to flicker sometimes when I'm playing HD programming off of my Comcast Motorola DVR; I don't know if that just means it was a weak incoming signal or if the splitter weakens it, but it sounded fine to me. The unit pretty much works as advertised and is an effective and practical, if not elegant, solution if you don't want to put the $$ down on a new digital receiver.
Fiber optic switch.......2007-03-25
Needed this for additional fiber inputs to my A/V amp. This was the perfect solution, works great, good price
