Well, It's Not Like I Wasn't Warned.......2007-01-28

I reviewed this drive on these pages, but I bought it anyway. I was purchasing a new Dell, and I figured (hoped) that the problems others experienced was a result of their over-burdened systems. I used the drive to retrieve data from my laptop and transfer it to my new computer, but when I installed the backup software, the system crashed and I am now unable to use my new computer. I called technical support, but guess what? They're closed on the weekend.

Well, it's not like I wasn't warned.

Bricked after 2 months.......2007-01-22

Doesn't come with decent back up software (would often say the drive was full when i had 100GB left.) And then to top it off -- the drive just stopped after less than 2 months! I've plugged and replugged it to no avail. Thank god i didn't have a crash as my backup would be gone.

Defective right out of the box.......2007-01-20

Right after I bought this, the drive wouldn't turn on unless I pressed the button extremely hard. Seagate confirmed to me that the device was defective. All I can say is that if a simple thing like a power button is defective, it doesn't bode well for the device as a whole.

Excellent HD.......2006-11-15

This HD is worth every penny. It has been working flawless for last few months. I have the 16MB version not the 8mb.

Had one of these for almost a year, and I haven't had any problems. auto backup software works great, no delayed write problems that some people have been talking aboout. I like it so much that I'm going to buy another in a month or so when this one is full.
