I HAVE USED WESTERN DIGITAL DRIVES IN MY COMPUTERS FOR YEARS AND IN MY LATEST BUILD I INSTALLED TWO OF THESE RAPTOR DRIVES
AND THE PERFORMANCE IS AWSOME THESE ARE THE FASTEST DRIVES I HAVE EVER USED IF YOU DON'T HAVE ONE GET ONE IT'S A GREAT PERFORMANCE BOOST OVER A 7200 RPM DRIVE

First do yourself a favor, look around, you can find a much better price on this drive on different web sites. Second this drive rocks. It will make everything you do on your computer faster. Games/Programs run much faster. If you can get two and RAID-0 them, making them 2x as fast, if you dont know how, it's not hard to find/hire someone who can set it up. Also when u get the drive/s do a fresh windows install, it goes faster than with your older drive (exspeacially if u have 2 in RAID-0) and will run smoother then if u just transfer your windows files to this drive. If you dont want to loose data unplug your old drive, install windows on this, then plug in both drives and select to boot win on the raptor, transfer your pics/documents and whatever and your gold! Buy it, if u need more room and hAve the money consiter the 74/150 gb versions!

I just cant believe this drive is so expensive here. The exact same HDD is 112 dollars on newegg! Please update your prices!

Very Fast Drive.......2003-12-24

If you, like me, have discovered that the slowest part of your computer is your hard drive this item is for you. They just keep pushing faster cpu clock speeds and bus speeds without any equal improvement to hard drive speeds. This drive is literally twice as fast as my two year old 20 gig drive (which I still use). I have actually timed applications opening and report generation in my business apps on the same machine. I am very impressed.

Some pros:
Very fast.
Very reliable (server grade,see WD website)
Included SATA PCI card worked fine. (I don't know if it's included here)

Some cons:
You must know what you are doing with your BIOS to enable booting to this drive. It's not rocket science but it could be if your motherboard is more than a year old. Also, take WD's advice and do a clean Win XP install on this drive and then transfer your data from your old drive. This will save you the six or eight hours I spent trying to transfer the whole drive with the formatting and booting etc. Plan your moves before you start.

It could be bigger.
