5 out of 5 stars Cheap for the speed.......2007-05-09

I'm pleased with this card, I have another computer with a 8800GTS, and I saw the difference only in speed, well right now, because at AA4x its the same, but remember 8800GTS can go up until AA16x, so I haven't purchase any game that I can use that kind of AA. But if you want to see great graphics and don't want to pay more than $150 and have a AGP slot, buy it, I have also a 22" widescreen monitor, and when I play the games at 1650 x 1080, man Im like a kid with a new toy, I also unlock the additional pipelines and it help a lot.

4 out of 5 stars Good if you are still looking for AGP.......2007-04-28

This card is a vast improvement over my older 5000 series NVIDIA card. If you are still running AGP, this is a nice video card. You wont have any bleeding edge graphics or anything like that, but like someone else said, it is a solid mid range card. I had no trouble installing it, it runs good and cool with the nice fan thats attached to it. Not loud at all. Overall I would recommend this product, especially if you aren't ready to make the switch to PCI-E. This card will hold you over for another year or more, depending on your needs.

This is probably the best agp has to offer, great bang for the buck. I can actually play Doom 3 now. Although when i run the auto configure feature in doom 3, it does not select highest graphic mode but just high and the resolution sets at 800x600 even though my desktop is 1024x768. i have not tried adding nitro with r1vatun3r as yet but i will. i had to move an hdd to a lower position because the card is very long, but i think most graphic cards are long these days, not a big problem for me because i have rather large chassis. no cooling issues so far, the driver that came with the bfg cd reports 64C on idle and 44C ambient incase those are helpful to anyone. the threshold temp is set to 120C default and as far as i know the value cant be changed from the driver interface so i reckon the stock cooler is good enough. i wish the fan came with lights though. i am not quite sure about the bfg recommended settings though because they contradict what i read on other sites with respect to the agp aperture size. bfg recommends setting it the same as the card memory however i think i read somewhere that agp aperture size is good enough at 64M. i think it was adrian's rojackpot bios optimization guide but i am not sure. comes with DVI - VGA converter and it supports analog and digital, also comes with Y-power cable.

there is only 1 issue i have so far. when i load the demo of the mermaid which came with the bfg cd, it powers down my pc and i cant turn it back on unless i pull out the plug and put it back in. i have no idea why that happens. it could be the mermaid demo and not the card because the card functions normally otherwise. i have not tried FEAR as yet but from what i read FEAR has a lame graphics engine and even a 7800GTX slows down at certain places in the game. oh well what else was i expecting from a sierra game. i will update this review if anything new comes up.

4 stars and not 5 because its a powerful card but games still take a while to exit and refresh the desktop even though i run a P4 3.0G HT, ASUS P4P800SE, Maxtor 7200rpm SATA HDD, PC3200 512DDR , memory acceleration enabled and dual channel mode. i am not sure if i was expecting too much from the card. but i will see what r1vatun3r can do :)

5 out of 5 stars Best "Mid-Range" card on the market .......2006-02-14

I got this card to replace my old worn FX5500 (A card I would be hard pressed to recommend to anyone, even gamers on a tight budget) an it has re-introduced me to that wonderful "Crank-it-up!" feeling! You know, that feeling you get when you realize that you can now go into all of your games and max out every last detail slider without fear? The warm fuzzies that come from knowing that your computer is now ready to take on at least 2-3 more years worth of the latest and greatest without a hiccup? Yeah, this card gushes that feeling.

My 3DMark 05 score jumped from (get this) 270 to 4144! That's 15X the performance power! And considering that you also get top-notch PS 3.0 support, this is probably one of the best purchases you can make to squeeze those last few years out of your AGP machine.
