Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Very useful.......2007-06-08

Product works great, I'm using it to feed the audio from my PS3 into my computer using toslink. My only beef is that it should have been included with the soundcard to begin with.

5 out of 5 stars Sound Blaster SPDIF output attachment.......2007-05-17

Does what it is supposed to, no complaints.
but, why does this have to be a separate part?

4 out of 5 stars Simple HTPC connectivity.......2007-05-06

This little module kept me from having to purchase a new receiver. I was able to quickly and easily connect my home theater PC's SoundBlaster Audigy 2 soundcard to my AV receiver via digital coax for true 5.1 Dolby Digital surround. And there are also digital in jacks as well, so I'll be able to run optical digital in from my sat box to the PC eventually. A great addition to my home theater setup.

4 out of 5 stars Go Digital or Analog but not both.......2007-04-16

Installing this product looked easy enough but was far from that. The "Instructions" consist of a picture of the device plugged into the X-Fi Sound Blaster card. Hmmm... That looked easy enough and I plugged it in and there was a brief moment of satisfaction when I saw the red light in the TOSLink optical output port -- unfortunately there was no audio.

I'm running Vista so none of the Creative applications work at all -- which isn't a problem in most cases except this one. Visiting Creative's website provided no relevant support.

The bottom line to get the Digital I/O module working is to use Control Panel->Sound. Find your speakers and click Properties. On the Custom tab click Digital Only. The analog speakers will be disabled but the Digital I/O will work.

BTW: If you want to record PC audio connect the coaxial input to the coaxial output and make sure you turn up the input gain to 100%. You can use any sound recorder (including the free one that comes with Vista) to make high quality digital recordings.

5 out of 5 stars does what it's supposed to.......2007-04-05

like the other guy, not much can be said. works. works well. end of story. The only thing i would have liked to see was integration of sorts into a pci slot or something, to keep it within the case.
