Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Flat form factor is good, but rest could be improved.......2007-05-13

What I really liked about this was its flat form factor - the original power supply that came with my "thin and light" notebook was like a brick, making it impossible to carry it in the notebook's slim carrying case without showing a distinctive bulge. While the Kensington probably is the same size volume-wise its hardly a half-inch thick (while being bigger in other dimensions) which makes it easy to carry it along with my notebook.

The short power cable does leave a lot to be desired, and it tends to get hot (I read in other reviews that the two are related -- supposedly they want you to hang this off the wall socket instead of lay it on a surface, so as to cool it down) but both are not show stoppers and for the reasonable price, it works great as a second adapter for home/office. No major complaints besides these nits.

My laptop is advertised in the Kensington website to be used with this adapter. They have the pin N3 advertised for the product. I ordered the pin also separately for another $10.99. And guess what? The adapter does not work with my laptop. When I called the Kensington support they were of not any help.

4 out of 5 stars Great subsitute.......2007-04-21

A nice product, unfortunately my laptop's mother board fried. It was not due to this but as a result of a company not fixing my laptop correctly. It fried the previous cord but I thought the cord went faulty so I decided to buy this. It is a nice product and a lot cheaper than what name brand computer companies want for their plug replacements.

The only compaint I would have, the cord is too short from the wall outlet to the power adapater. Would be nice if it was just a little bigger even by a few inches so it could not have risk of being pulled out.

5 out of 5 stars Great Travel Aid.......2007-04-15

Great for travelers needing mixed voltage inputs. Will plug into just about anything anywhere; only a solar panel would make it more versatile! Smaller and lighter than any laptop charger I'm familiar with, and takes the place of an auto charger so you have one less device to tote and keep up with. Rather expensive unless you shop; don't pay over $50 unless you don't have the time to save money. Get the wind-up cord to go with it and you have the perfect world-traveler power package.

3 out of 5 stars Kensington is too stupid to make computer accessories.......2007-03-12

I have been asking them for over a year to simply publish a large "smart tip" compatibility chart or table, showing ALL their smart tips and ALL the known compatible devices. They just refer me to their stupid smart tip "finder" where you enter in your device/mfg/model# and it tries to find the right tip. What if you have 10 different devices? 100? Too impossibly cumbersome. As others have said, Kensington tech support has no clue. The power adapter does seem to work, IF you are GOD/omniscient and can figure out which tip you need. Knowing the correct tip is essential, since that controls not only the fit of plug into socket, but also voltage. Random guessing, which is what Kensington reduces its customers to, will surely fry your equipment.
