Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars OK for voice and fruit-flavored aliens, terrible for music........2007-01-04

Wireless headphones are cool conceptually, but this pair leaves much to be desired.

When comparing these headphones to other bluetooth sets, this pair probably stacks up pretty well. With volume and track control right at your fingertips one can, in theory, roam about with no need to touch the audio source. The speakers themselves seem to have good bass response and the detachable mic and carrying pouch are a nice touch.

However, when compared to a cheap $12 pair of wired icetech headphones the sound quality on the IOGEAR WIRELESS BLUETOOTH headphones is terrible. Highs are removed, mids are muted and though the bass tries to peak in every now and again it is generally absent. Though a phone conversation would probably sound just right, high bit-rate MP3s sound more like poor quality FM radio on this device.

On top of these shortcomings, the physical shape of these headphones is... Odd. It looks like these were made for some strange creature with a pair-shaped head, and feel about the same. When wearing the headphones (during the brief interval I did) the bone just behind my ears would either be most uncomfortably pinched by the band, or ride so low in the back I could not comfortably look heavenward. I can only theorize that these were designed by aliens from Jupiter's moon "Io" in an attempt to prevent our populous from seeing their ships fly in during invasion.

Finally, though I purchased a supposedly compatible bluetooth adapter from the same company, the previouse/next track buttons DO NOT control any MP3 computer software I could find. What good is a pair of wireless headphones if you have to walk back to your computer to skip a track?

If you are getting these headphones for VOIP use, a cell phone, online gaming, or to remind you not to look at the sun during a solar eclipse then they might be for you. If your head is pear shaped and you are almost deaf then they might also be what you are looking for. For listening to music from your computer while you roam around you would be better off buying an MP3 player and wired headphones.

1 out of 5 stars Unable to pair with Treo 650 and Iogear doesn't know how to help!.......2006-10-26

I just got these in today and they look like a nice unit. I followed the simple Bluetooth pairing instructions but wasn't able to get them to sync up. My Treo saw them, I was able to enter the pass key, and my Treo said they were paired but the headphones never stopped "detecting". I contacted Iogear support via their online "Live Chat" but beyond a reboot type of recommendation, they couldn't offer any more help beyond that and said that I could replace them.

That's disappointing, I'd really like to listen to music over on these at the gym.

2 out of 5 stars Awesome bluetooth sound quality, but very very poorly designed.......2006-09-15

I received these headphones as a present, two weeks after getting them, while the bluetooth works great (however you cannot use the mic with a computer) but the headphones broke. The band between the two speakers is tiny and breaks very easily. I was able to return them and get a new pair. Then two weeks later, they broke in the same exact location. So here, i am with two bluetooth speakers connected by a wire, and wondering, "Can i put them into other headphones?" These are very very very poorly designed.
-a little bitter.

2 out of 5 stars I was wrong........2006-02-08

I've been searching and seaching for a Mic for my computer. I have a Mac Mini which is limited on USB ports so i decided to get a bluetooth mic. I search all of my deal websites and all that i com upon that looked nice was this, it said that it was computer compatible, said that it is compatible with macs, and it was stereo. I was going to Mainly use it wil Skype to talk to my friends while i game. It comes in the mail and im stoked. I open it, follow the instructions, set it up with my Mac, pair it, Connect it, typ in the 4 digit password and it says "Congratulations, Your Headset is connected!" Then i open skype and get a message: "Bluetooth Audio Failed. There was an error connecting to your headset. Make sure it is turned on and in range. The audio portion of the program you were using may have to be restarted." So i call Their Technical support, I get to a technician and she says, im not qualified with this item, let me put you through to a design specialist. Im on hold for 15 minutes( I watched the clock) and she comes back on, "I'm Sorry, they're all busy right now, please wait 5 more minutes" blah blah blah, 10 minutes go by and she comes back on, I talked to a specialis and he said that this model is not compatible with computers, only the audio is compatible with computers,

the mic portion is only compatible with cell phones"

So let that be a warning, If your to use it with a comp, according to the technicians at IOGear, it wont work, Even thught it was that you can connect to a computer on the box. Im returning it now.

3 out of 5 stars Stereo quality OK, but mechanical design is a problem.......2005-12-08

I just bought and returned a pair of these headphones. The stereo quality was good, but the mechanical design was poor. Maybe it was just the shape of my skull, but the neck-phone plastic pinched into my skull behind my ears, which made it unwearable.

Another point - the audio headset associated with this is usable only for telephony applications and does not deliver high-quality recorded sound (i.e. it sounds like the sound was sent over a telephone!). I didn't test it with a phone, but only for recorded voice, and the quality was much poorer than a very cheap stand-alone microphone I have.
