Decent Monitor.......2007-01-15

I've owned Viewsonics in the past and have always been pleased with them. With this one, I knew it was one of their cheaper models but felt that since it was a Viewsonic I'd still get a great product. It's a decent monitor, but the color display could be better. It's overly contrast-y. Colors are way to o bright. I've adjusted and re-adjusted the color but with little improvement. Also, it does not have an adjustable or swivel neck, so how it comes out of the box is how it stays.

Overall, it's a decent, cheap monitor.

I purchased this monitor for my Mother as a Christmas gift to replace her small 15" CRT. It works great and was so easy to setup that at 75 year of age she was able to do it by herself. She enjoys the extra room on her desk and the larger, clear screen. She even thinks the speakers sound good. I don't think you can beat the value.

I don't know much about computer equipment, so when I wanted a flat panel monitor for my computer I asked my local IT guru for some help selecting a good one. He found me this beauty and I am thrilled to have been directed to a high quality item with such an unbelievably reasonable price.

Paid about $[...] on sale through Amazon with rebate. So far so good. I have had this unit for about 2 months.Colors and sharpness are fine. No complaints.Definitely worth the money.

Short Lifespan.......2006-12-01

I purchased 2 Viewsonic LCD monitors and both lasted about a year and a half before the left side of the screens went dark. No diagnostic queries or interaction could bring them back to normal. I contacted customer support and was told that Viewsonic would do nothing. Maybe I was stupid not to get a warranty beyond the first year, but I assumed that a good product, made with good parts, from a company that desires to satisfy its customers with a good QA/QC program to ensure that quality products were produced, would turn out products that lasted longer than a year and a half. With 2 monitors having the same problem and lasting the same length of time, this indicates to me a non-coincidental problem within Viewsonic. I will not buy anything from Viewsonic again. I will spend a little more, if I have to, and buy a reliable product from a reliable company.
