Customer Reviews:
Well made case with plenty of room for your drives.......2007-03-23
I selected this case to house a Hewlett-Packard Pavilion computer motherboard when the Pavilion 512n power supply in the original case went bad. This case came with a 350 watt power supply (over 100 watts more than the little HP power supply), has plenty of room for both 3 1/2" and 5 1/4" devices and has a nice finish.
The entire case is held together by just two thumb screws at the top of the case on the rear. Remove them and the top panel comes off. The side panels lift up, not back, and this actually minimizes the space you need if you are working on this in a tight spot.
The package came with all the stand-offs you could need, plenty of screws for drives and even a plastic zip tie to help put your cables where you need them.
The Trigem Lomita motherboard from HP has non-standard connectors for the front panel devices like the power LED light, the reset switch and the on/off power button, so I had to move some of the pins in the motherboard connector to get the right polarity. Not a big issue, but I did have to search for what the pinouts were. And the HP USB connector is physically different from the Antec one (HP's doing, not Antec's fault), so I had to use the USB connector from the old HP case.
The Antec actually gives you 3 hard drive LED cables so if you have that many drives, you can hook each one up to a drive and you have separate drive LEDs on the front case.
One other mod I had to make was to accomodate the proprietary HP speaker jack. I used one of the spare slide in slot covers, drilled a hole in it the size of the jack, and reinserted the retaining nut. It looks good and did not present a problem.
For what I paid for the power supply and case, I think I did well. Both have a 3-year Antec warranty, a major plus for me since I was on my 3rd HP power supply in that 512n case.
Lastly, there was an Antec notice in the documentation that said to call Antec's toll-free number to get a USB adapter cable if yours didn't fit. I did that and the tech told me just to rearrange the pinouts. That would have been fine, but the Antec connector would not fit over the HP motherboard pins regardless of how the pins were arranged. So their response did not address my issue. But with 10 minutes of time, you can just reuse the old USB connector.
Highly rated.
Great deal for the dollar........2007-03-16
I have bought 3 of these over the past few years. The design and the quality are excellent.
A nice Case.......2006-05-21
A great product for the money. Looks great and is easy to build a system into. Nice power supply. No major problems. Very cool case.
Awesome case, but watch out.......2006-01-14
This is a really awesome case. It's really easy to build a computer into. It comes with an Antec Smartpower 350 watt power supply (a namebrand power supply and not a generic, like most cases). However, you better look closely when buying this case. Most newer motherboards support 24 pin power supplies and this one is a 20+4 pin power supply. Overall, though a really great case that no one should have problems with.
great case.......2005-07-19
Excellent case for the $. Very easy to remove side panels and top to install components. No sharp edges inside. An explanation of what the screws should be used for would have been nice, but didn't take too long to figure out. The mobo did not come with enough standoffs but again not a huge deal. PSU is very quiet. Plenty of room within the case to manage cables, add hard drive or optical devices.
