Customer Reviews:
Nice keyboard but dark keys a dealbreaker.......2007-06-10
Brought mine when it just came out so maybe they've tweaked it by now but the light letters on dark keys just dont work well during the day. They're light blue against black and the contrast just wasnt good enough. At night or in a dark room visibility is a lot better.
The room where I keep my PC has a lot of natural light during the days, so I've since switched to the Saitek Eclipse keyboard (blue against silver keys) which I can comfortably use night and day. The Saitek doesnt have all the features of the logitech, so if Logitech comes out with a G15 with silver keys I would probably switch back.
Good while it lasted.......2007-05-31
This keyboard was very nice to have around while it lasted. The LED display allowed you to keep track of the status of your game without opening extra windows on your monitor. Being able to hit a button and check your stats without cluttering up your visibility was great.
The macro buttons, while nice, weren't that different from using regular keyboard buttons for the same function. I suppose if you found yourself in a situation where you didn't have enough keyboard space they would be great. However, since most movement is done with WASD, having to move your hand away from those to use macros is rather inconvenient. I can imagine there are certain situations in each game, and even certain games as a whole, that would make great use of this feature, but I didn't really run into any while my keyboard lasted.
Now, the negative. I bought this board in mid-April. Today my computer froze and I had to cold-boot it. When I did, somehow the board was fried and now I can't get any response from it. I'm not sure if this is a common problem (doubt it is), but it does hurt the rating for me.
Not my kind of keyboard.......2007-05-26
I like the idea of a gaming keyboard, but this one just doesn't fit the bill. Regardless of intended function, a keyboard needs to "feel" properly - tactile feedback from key strokes is the primary criterion for rating a keyboard, in my opinion at least. I know this is subjective, but for me the keyboard just feels too mushy, and key presses are too long.
As for features, the display is a novelty, as the games I've played showed only basic data that I could configure on my monitor, and I'd rather keep my eyes on the monitor than look down at my keyboard for that info.
The extra row of keys on the left side were useful for several games, and the blue backlighting looks cool.
I replaced the G15 with the Razer Tarantula, which feels much more crisp and precise to me.
the greates keyboard ever.......2007-05-21
is the best keyboard, i love it, logitech is always the best
Great product, but beware of software and compability.......2007-05-16
As all the reviews state, this is truly a great product. As a gamer, those LCD and programming buttons are very handy and nice. Overall it is a very well thought out product.
HOWEVER, one must be careful. First, you MUST have the latest drivers/software if you are using Vista, as older versions have crashing problems. Second, if you require to use your keyboard on a PS/2 port (like ASUS striker extreme motherboards' many problems including one where you have to turn of USB mouse and keyboard support to be able to be stable), this product will not work. It refuses to work even as basic keyboard on a PS/2 port. So, if you need PS/2 keyboards, get another keyboard, or, like me get an extra old PS/2 keyboard as a secondary keyboard when you absolutely need PS/2.
