1 out of 5 stars Known Issues.......2006-04-07

My set-up: Dell LCD monitor, wireless keyboard and mouse, 2 win XP systems. You can not use the mouse and keyboard ports on this if they are wireless/USB - as the unit won't work correctly. You have to use the 2 USB ports in the back - which mean you can not use a 3rd USB device - and NO you can't connect a HUB and cheat - tried it! Also, tech told me this unit hasd known issues with Nvidia chip-set motherboards and with wireless keyboards........ I guess I didn't know anyone still connected the keyboard and mouse with a wire???? Why would you do that? So if you're running an older system maybe it's ok. Also, the lights are weird - and you have to hold the switch in for 3-4 seconds to get it to switch - and then play with mouse and keyboard to get it to rec. And forget about the hot keys. I spent 2 hours with tech service before he admitted this unit has issues with my type of set-up. THANK GOD amazon is so easy to return - gonna try masterIT has 29 5 star reviews. I'll let you know.

5 out of 5 stars IOGEAR KVMP Switch.......2006-03-22

This switch is the best I've owned so far, and I've owned five. It's works, it works fast and it works using hot keys so we can switch from one computer to the other with no troubles.

4 out of 5 stars Hassle-free KVM switch, but lacks high-speed USB.......2006-03-11

This is my first KVM switch purchase, and it's being used to share a flat panel monitor and USB mouse/keyboard between a desktop and a laptop. I did a bit of research before buying, and I liked the "peripheral sharing" feature on the IOGEAR Miniview Extreme. Recommended.

Pros:
+ Reliable (so far) and intuitive interface: tap a selection button to switch the KVM to the computer of choice; press and hold the button for 2+ seconds to also switch the peripherals.
+ Cable bundle combines VGA and USB into a single cable, reducing clutter.
+ Solid construction, doesn't feel like an empty shoebox.

Cons:
- Peripheral USB ports are NOT high-speed! I didn't realize this at the time of purchase. If you're using these ports for attaching an external disc drive, your read/write speeds will be rather slow.
- Peripheral USB ports are crammed into the back of the device. OK for connecting scanner, etc, but not enough space to connect a flash "thumb" drive; you'll probably need a USB extension cable.
- Rubber feet on the front edge only, doesn't grip the desk very well (especially with all those cables attached). Adding your own rubber feet will help with this.

4 out of 5 stars Very nice, best yet.......2006-02-01

Still not 100% compatible with my keyboard and mouse, but I was able to get it to work well enough for my Eclipse keybaord and Copperhead mouse...

I gave it a 4 out of 5 rating, but it is really a nice KVM.

5 out of 5 stars This is the one you want........2006-01-05

I bought a Microsoft Natural Ergonomic 4000 usb keyboard that has programmable & multimedia keys. I purchased a D-Link kvm switch & the special keys on the keyboard didn't work. In all my reasearch, I found that most usb kvm switches emulate a standard keyboard, so special features a keyboard has are disabled. I bought this IOGEAR Extreme switch because it supported 2 special keyboards already, had auxiliary usb ports that might allow the keyboard to work as a periferal device & has a firmware upgrade feature in case they come up with something great. I plugged everything in as instructed 1st & the keyboard works, programmable keys & all. Plus the kvm hotkey switching still works! This may sound small to some, but for those that have been frustrated with usb kvm, this is big.
