Product Description

Finally, you can make good use of available USB upstream ports on your PC, and free-up the parallel port for devices like your Zip drive. Use the USB to Centronics 36 male adapter cable to attach your legacy IEEE 1284 bi-directional printer, and forget the hassles of IRQ sharing. That's the beauty of USB. Choose the transparent adapter cable to match your new iMac! The Lastar USB to Parallel adapter cables are fully compliant with the USB specification ver. 1.1, and support standard PC parallel port register based operation. They auto negotiate hardware recognition for faster protocol set-up, and support multiple logical channels. Maximum throughput is 1.216m bytes/sec. (ECP mode), and they come complete with a PC driver disk for common printers. Also, included is a 1 meter USB A/B cable.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars No-brainer..........2007-04-27

I plugged it into my old Laserjet 4P, and connected my MacBook Pro. It worked. Ta-da.

5 out of 5 stars Great.......2007-04-24

Worked like a charm, wish I would have taken the time to get this long ago, would have saved me alot of money on ink.

5 out of 5 stars Works on an iMac.......2007-02-23

Purchased this to connect an old HP LaserJet 4ML to a new Intel iMac. Just plugged it in and it worked. iMac recognized the printer model and shows up as an available printer in application print dialog boxes. Does not say it is Mac compatable but it works!

4 out of 5 stars Weird instalation..........2007-01-06

The cable works very well, I now can use the printer I had forgotten due to the lack of parallel port in my computer. Installation manual, however, goes only up to windows 2000, which leads me to think that the product is rather old, or that Plug'N'Play usually takes care of this. I had a little puzzle to solve before I managed to make it work, but in the end I realized that the "Printer Spooler" service was disabled from within windows. Once enabled, everything worked perfectly.

2 out of 5 stars Cheap quality, no exact length.......2006-07-12

I ordered this cable a few weeks ago. Although I must say that it does work fine, the cable looks cheap (in fact, it is very thin) and its length is less than 6 feet. As you may agree, length does matter so you do not want to fall short when it comes to that. So for $20 (including shipping), I think it was not exactly a good deal.
