Amazon.com Product Description

The D-Link DFE-530TX is an IEEE 802.3 10/100Mbps compliant Fast Ethernet adapter especially designed for PCI bus computers. The D-Link DFE-530TX supports both 100Base-TX two-pair category 5 UTP cable and 10Base-T categories 3, 4, or 5 UTP cable connections. It also operates with full duplex, doubling the network speed to 20/200Mbps.

Utilizing the Plug and Play features, the DFE-530TX adapter is fully self-configurable for easy installation. Three on-face LEDs indicate speed, link, and activity.

The D-Link DFE-530TX, with its PCI 32-bit data bus, can deliver high throughput without the need for onboard memory. No problems setting up and running with your average winders system.

1 out of 5 stars D-Link = Garbage.......2001-01-22

I used this card to connect my cable modem to my computer...utter garbage. It never worked...I just simply went out to a store and bought one from Sohoware.....that card worked as soon as i popped it into the computer..Another reason to stay away from D-Link is their tech support is long distance..I have to waste extra money..no way!!

5 out of 5 stars Run well on Linux.......1999-12-08

I installed this card into my Linux box in 5 minutes. After I booted Mandrake Linux 6.1, the system knew the card right away and used rtl card driver for it running at 100Mbps.

I have only 2 computers with Network Card at home. The other computer is an iMac. So I use a cross-over cable to connect the two. I configured the Linux Netatalk to support AppleTalk. Now I can print documents from iMac to the laser printer connected to the Linux box. The hard disks on iMac and Linux box appear to be local disks for either machines. Read/write to the hard disks on other machine is fast and reliable.

The card also supports wake-on-demand function. i.e. The card will turn your computer on when there is a in-bound connection request.

The retail price of this card is $20. So amanzon.com's $30 is not cheap.
