The Wireless-G USB Network Adapter with SRX400 is the simple way to add or upgrade wireless connectivity in your desktop or notebook computer. The SRX400 product line combines smart antenna technology with standards-based Wireless-G (802.11g) networking. By overlaying the signals of two Wireless-G compatible radios, the Multiple In, Multiple Out (MIMO) technology effectively doubles the data rate. MIMO actually uses these reflections to increase the range and reduce Dead Spots in the wireless coverage area. The robust signal travels farther, maintaining wireless connections up to 3 times farther than standard Wireless-G. The farther away you are, the more speed advantage you get and SRX400 works great with standard Wireless-G and -B equipment. But when both ends of the wireless link are SRX400, the network can increase the throughput even more by using twice as much radio band, yielding speeds up to 10 times as fast as standard Wireless-G. This is faster than 10/100-wired network speeds.

Fast, but has some drawbacks.......2007-05-12

It's large and detached from our PCs, so they sit on top of our computers taking up space that we normally use for other things. Also, my girlfriend and daughter used to drop connections frequently, so changed the channel to a band unused (as far as I know). Now drops are rare, but if I download large files while they play online, their performance is terrible (it wasn't before). Last, occasionally they will drop off my network on onto other local, unsecured networks, even thought the option to go to other networks is disabled! Thankfully, that happens infrequently now that I've changed the channel (and taken the hit on performance instead). And of course, these are very expensive network cards.

On the bright side, my family plays World of Warcraft ("WOW") and other online games with zero lag, so they are basically happy.

Not sure if I'd buy the same ones again, but they are getting the job done, at least.

Great product, but install a bit tricky.......2007-05-01

Once we got this thing working, it was great--it's fast and reliable. It did take a bit of tweaking to get it to work properly, but once you get that down, it's a solid product. Plays well with our SRX and non-SRX flavors of wirelss B and G routers (Linksys and non-Linksys) and this baby has great range--we see 5 times as many routers in the neighborhood now! Linksys technical support was also very helpful.

Great product, excellent USB performance.......2007-04-21

This adapter gives us consistently excellent range and signal (at least 80%) anywhere in our 2700 sq ft two-story home. The adapter also works with our older WRT54G router (which is not an SRX router), but the adapter gave us better performance than our other wireless G adapters already in the house which were hovering around 30-60% signal performance. Its works great with our laptops and desktops alike.

This was a snap to install, setup and run. Great tech support from Linksys, if you need it. Works great and does the job! I recommend it!
