5 out of 5 stars So Far So Good On my Powerbook.......2006-11-09

Bought this card for my Powerbook Wallstreet running OS 9.2.1. All I had to download was the Apple USB Card Support 1.4.1 driver for it to work under OS 9. You can download that for free from Apple. So far works great. I use my Lexar USB JumpDrive to transfer data between work and home and for now I haven't encountered any problems. Good product, Good Price.

My computer:
Windows XP
HP Pavilion ze4805us

I tried to use this produce on a HP Pavilion ze4805us. I was trying to obtain files off my thumbdrive. As soon as I tried to access files on the drive it would lock my machine. No cursor movement or anything. As soon as I ejected the card, everything works fine.

This product is made by Sabrent (which doesn't even put their name on the product). I contacted Sabrent and a lady answered speaking Chinenglish telling me to submit an email to tech support. A week later, tech support emailed me asking me the hardware wizard appeared when I put the card in the slot. I explained there seemed to be a conflict with the IRQ 11 setting and was unable to change the IRQ(settings disabled). Two weeks later they replied telling me they thought the device was pulling too much power(it's a usb thumbdrive). A week later... They told me it was my laptop not having enough power.

Their techsupport is a joke. If you have problems with this product, don't expect any help fixing it. If you search google for "usb 2.0 pcmcia cardbus freeze", you will see that many people have this problem and there is no resolve for it that can be found in the hundreds of pages I searched.

Don't buy Sabrent. It's cheap, not enexpensive!!!

5 out of 5 stars Good Value.......2006-04-19

Worked fine with my Dell Inspiron 1100. Windows detected it just fine and even had the right drivers without having to use the included CD. Some non scientific testing showed significant improvement for read times from a compact Flash card, but writing to the flash card was about a fast as with USB 1.1 (That may be due to the flash card or the reader and not the USB card though). All in all I think this is an excellent value for the low price.

A small side note: After purchasing the card I found out that my laptop already had USB 2.0 (although the documentation clamed it was only 1.1) If you also have a Dell, it may be worth checking the actual hardware rather than trusting the docs.
