This product is just what I needed to move the data from old computer (no NIC, no USB) hard drives onto a new computer (only USB interfaces). Plug in and connect for seamless data transfer. The holes to mount the drive to the guide tray did not match up well but I only needed it to be temporary anyway.

ok, for the price.......2007-05-30

The product works but has an annoying feature when you first turn it on: The OS (XP) goes into autoplay mode and tries to read the content of every drive in the enclosure (the drive in the enclosure is partitioned into 3 drives). I have tried to turn off autoplay for that drive but that did not help. This takes about 30 secs or more. I have a different enclosure which does not do the same. Other than that, the drive functions ok, though I have not put it through any rigorous tests.

Works as billed. I put a 200g HD in and it functions well, keeps cool. Would recommend.

I recently bought 2 of this external enclosures and it was a very good decision. The only thing that you need to do is to take the enclosures out of their boxes, grab your old hard drives and connect it to the cables of the enclosure (the only thing that you need to keep in mind is to set up the hard drive as master using the jumper in the positions 7-8), load the two screws to secure the hard drive inside the enclosure and that is it.

This enclosures doesn't have a fan, so the noice... not a problem.

Heat??? Not a problem neither.

Very user friendly for those who don't have a technical background (like me).

I like it. The written instructions could be a bit better. They have a bunch of pages, but none of them tell you how to set the HD jumpers (use Cable Select) or connect the power to the HD (red stripe to power). These things are known by most who've built computers, but if you are writing a 10+ page manual on a simple product, you'd think those would be two items to include. Anyways, since I knew what to do with the jumper and cable, things worked well and continue to work well.
