But to setup The Slingbox, you need an Ethernet port near your TV. Not many of us do, but we do usually have a free outlet there, which is where the SlingLink comes in. Make sure you can return the product. It produced a very weak signal, even in the next room, so that what I received on my slingobx was useless.
I live in an old house so it may be something in my walls or wiring that is inhibiting the connection, but it did not work for me

Not just for slingbox.......2007-05-23

I intially bought for my slingbox, which was easy to set up and worked great. I then tried to connect my laptop to my router via slinglink and that also worked well. I then made it my connection for my XBox 360, and it cleared up issues I was having there. I have box upstairs, 2 more on the main level, and 1 in the finished basement, and all work great.

If your computer and your slingbox are in different rooms, the two products have to be on the same circuit or else they won't work. I had to return the product.

It ONLY does what it literally what it says it does.eg:one tv to one pc only. If it does not specifically say it can do something assume it can not;even if it is a logical extension.

I found it dfficult to set up if your system is more than primative. for example a cable box, dvr, sound systems, dvd/vhs, picture-in-picture movies on demand payperview.
