Product Description

Universal Serial Bus (USB) port technology has emerged in response to the proliferation of external peripheral devices (scanners, digital cameras, removable drives, etc.), that are increasingly being connected to the latest generation of PCs. USB behaves in a similar fashion to conventional bus ports (i.e., serial, parallel, PS/2), but since it does not require any IRQs, more devices can be attached to the system, and the problem of IRQ conflict is eliminated. The G-UC100KM PS/2 to USB Keyboard and Mouse interface converter provides the means for PS/2 type keyboards and mice to connect to a PC, notebook, laptop, or handheld computing device that supports the USB specification via the USB bus instead of using conventional bus technology. An advantage of this for notebooks, for example, is that now an external mouse and keyboard can be connected at the same time without causing conflicts. The G-UC100KM comes with two standard 6 pin mini DIN female connectors for the PS/2 keyboard and PS/2 mouse to plug into and has an attached 30 cm USB cable with a type A plug for connection to the PC's USB port, or to a USB hub.For further convenience - especially to users of notebooks, laptops, and handhelds - the G-UC100KM adapter derives its operating power from the Universal Serial Bus itself, so no bulky external power supply needs to be taken along. And because it is a USB Specification compliant device, the G-UC100KM supports energy-saving suspend and resume operations.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Worked perfectly well with a Sun Ultra 20.......2007-04-22

Just bought this adapter this week and hooked it up to a Kinesis Contour keyboard and a Sun Ultra 20 -- worked perfectly.

Regarding the first, confused comment: yes, the name sounds backward, but that really is how this device is described.

1 out of 5 stars This is NOT a USB to PS2 Converter !!.......2006-12-21

If you look at this item, it has 2 female PS2 ports for keyboard and mouse and the USB connector is male. This is really a PS2 to USB converter. Some one need to make the correction!

1 out of 5 stars Tech support admits does not work with wireless mice.......2003-03-14

I bought this device to hook up a Logitech wireless mouse via a Linksys KVM switch to 2 PCs. The mouse motion was erratic and tended to overshoot the target screen item. Installed latest mouse drivers, no effect. Tried hooking mouse directly to PCs, works fine. Tried hooking KVM switch directly to PCs, also works fine. Problem is clearly with the USB/PS2 converter. Called technical support at IOGEAR who admitted that they have problems with some cordless mice - they recommended I return the device. At least they were honest, but it would have been better if their product worked properly.
