Product Description

IOGEAR's palm-sized USB Multi-Function Print Server allows any networked computer to share a USB Multi-Function Printer (MFP). This multi-function server goes a step beyond ordinary print servers by allowing multiple network users to Print, Scan, and Fax using the same Multi-Function Printer. This eliminates the need to purchase multiple expensive MFPs as all you need to share the printer is a connection to the print server's network port. It complies with USB 1.1 specifications, and provides users with an auto-sensing 10/100Base-T port. The print server will even automatically identify your printer's make & model upon connection. The built-in web management feature provides more convenience by allowing the user to configure, monitor and even reset the print server via a web browser. One USB port compliant with USB 1.1 specification One network port for support of 10/100Base-T networks Web interface allows for easy configuration and monitoring Requirements - Windows 2000/XP, Available USB port Printer - Multi-function printer with USB connection Network Interface - 10/100Mbps RJ45 Printer Connection - USB 1.1 Network Protocol - TCP/IP Management - Web Interface, Windows Utility Standards - IEEE 802.3 10Base-T, IEEE 802.3u 100Base-T, USB 1.1 Dimensions - Length 2.25 x Height 1 x Width 2 inch

Customer Reviews:

1 out of 5 stars Don't waste your time.......2007-04-13

I got this product today and it is already boxed up to go back to Amazon. It wouldn't get an IP address and after hours of trying and talking to tech support, I gave up. Couple this wither other bad reviews, don't waste your time or money.

This product over-promises and just plain doesn't deliver.

There might be something better somewhere but this multifunction print server is terrible. Don't say you weren't warned! I ignored the other bad reviews to try it anyway, my mistake!

Also as an update, I forgot to add the fact that the Installation CD that came with it was defective. I tried it in multiple drives and it was bad disc.

2 out of 5 stars Multi-function capability is glitchy.......2007-02-03

I purchased two of these units, one for a CoStar label printer, the other for a Canon MP780 multifunction printer. The first IoGear print server was recognized intermittently on my local network, and after spending lots of time determining whether it I was doing something wrong, I plugged in the second unit, which was recognized instantly and reliably. So, lesson number one, as others have written, is that these units can be defective. Next I learned I was able to use it as a print server fairly reliably, both with the CoStar and the Canon. However, I simply have not been able to utilize the IoGear fully, as I can print with it, but not scan or fax. With both scanning and faxing the unit hangs. IoGear tech support said that this problem would be eliminated if I reinstalled print drivers, etc, while the IoGear was active, but that was not the case. So, if one is looking for a USB print server, providing the IoGear unit is not defective, it appears to work. But I am less convinced that this will work to support full multifunction capabilities over a local network.

1 out of 5 stars Great idea, if it works.......2007-01-04

Maybe I got a bad unit, but no matter what I did, I couldn't get this thing to get an IP address. I tried four different routers with no luck. Unfortunately there's absolutely no way to communicate with this unless it's on a network, so if it doesn't work right out of the box, you'll never get it to work.

4 out of 5 stars Does what it says, slow with dell printers.......2006-06-06

I bought this for two home networks I manage. One had a Dell AIO printer and while the server worked it printed at about 1ppm b&w. The other network had an HP 2410 all-in-one and it worked fine. Setup was easy on Windows XP machines.

1 out of 5 stars no support for Linux.......2006-03-18

I couldn't get the machines on my network that run Linux to see the printer. IOGEAR technical support simply said Linux is not supported.
