Customer Reviews:
Jabra BT500V - a bad product........2007-05-26
Comparing to Jabra BT250, the BT500v has a poor appearance, is not much better quality, but its price is much more. I would not recommmend this product.
My First Bluetooth Headset.......2007-02-23
After researching several different models, I settled on the BT500v. My concerns were, is it loud enough for when I'm driving? Does it have a USB charger? And, can I place it while driving?
1) It is plenty loud enough for me. The earpiece that projects into the ear directs sound so well that I actually have the unit turned down low, even when I'm driving. It is also very secure, I prefer the around-the-ear style.
2) The ability to charge via USB was a big selling point for me. However, it is a bit misleading. You have to use the supplied USB cable to charge the headset. You cannot just plug it into a standard mini USB cable (like my phone). As long as I keep the cable with my laptop, I'm in good shape.
3) Contrary to some statements about other Jabra models, I've found I can place this headset on the ear using only one hand. It takes some practice, but once you get it down, it's a cinch.
-) Turn the headset upside-down and place the earpiece into the ear as you normally would (yes, even though it's upside down right now).
-) The microphone should be between your ear and your head. Now rotate the entire headset so that the microphone follows the back of your ear--while the earpiece stays somewhat in the ear acting as a pivot point.
-) The unit will settle in place and it just requires a gentle nudge to set it. Practice. You'll see it's not that difficult.
Overall, it's a good headset. People on the other end tell me I sound like I'm far away. Other than that, I can't complain.
Excellent.......2007-02-08
I am so very please with my BT500V, sound is great. Like the other reviewer, I feel that the bluetooth technology should be a requirement for all drivers. The vibrations is tickleish sometimes and the fit is comfortable, I truly forget it's there sometimes. What i love most of all is that people think that I am crazy talking to myself, it is totally hidden behind my hair. LOVE IT LOVE IT
Great when you get what you paid for..........2006-12-09
I'm very pleased with the Jabra bt500v. I have some frequency loss in my right ear and voices come through clearly. This is not the case with many of the others. No one I've called has noticed any difference between my using it or, not using it. It pared quickly and easily with my Blackberry 8700c, which is carried within a leather holster on my belt. In terms of comfort, I hardly know it's there. I don't give 5 stars often but the JABRA has earned them.
Upgrade from BT250v.......2006-11-26
The new BT500v appears to be designed much better and is tremendously light weight. The jury is still out for me in terms of the sound quality, but I do prefer the "in-the-ear" design over the other blue-tooth headsets currently on the market. I have previously used both the BT250 and the BT250v. Jabra replaced my original BT250 with the BT250v when I returned the item because the silicon behind-the-ear part of the ear-piece came apart from the back of the design where the on/off switch is (apparently there is a very delicate screw hing inside the unit that is encased in plastic and mine kept breaking). The BT500v does not come with any type of carrying case or cradle (as with the BT250 series). I don't always want the headset in my ear and am afraid it will get damaged in my purse or backpack without some type of carrying/protective case. Final notes, bluetooth technology/headsets should be required equipment for drivers.
