Amazon.com Product Description
The Gillette Fusion Power is the first razor to bring advanced electronics to wet shaving. It is also the first shaving system for men that combines revolutionary blade technologies on both the front and the back of a single shaving cartridge. Designed for every kind of face -- from the soft, clean-shaven to the rough and stubbled -- the Fusion offers the most comfortable and precise shave you'll get from any blade on the market.
Revolutionary Blade Technology
Gillette Fusion Power features a breakthrough five-blade shaving surface technology on the front of the cartridge. The blades are spaced 30 percent closer together than the M3 Power cartridges, Gillette's earlier generation of razors. In fact, in consumer tests, the Fusion Power was preferred overall to the M3 Power razor by 2-to-1, and scored higher on every performance, appearance and ergonomic measure as well.

Gillette's breakthrough design features five blades, a flexible comfort guard, and an enhanced Lubrastrip. View larger.

The combination of adding more blades and narrowing the inter-blade span creates a "shaving surface" that distributes the force across the blades, resulting in significantly less irritation and more comfort. Gillette's Fusion Power features the most advanced blade edge technology with the smoothest blade edge coating -- this translates into a blade with incredible glide and comfort. The new flexible comfort guard carefully follows the contours of the face to help shaving surface comfortably shave closer than ever. And an enhanced indicator Lubrastrip infused with skin conditioning Vitamin E, Aloe, and natural oils fades from blue to white, signaling when optimal shave conditions have been reduced and it's time to change your razor.
Setting New Standards for Precision and Design
The back side of the Fusion Power blade cartridge sets a new standard for precision for today's razor. The Precision Trimmer blade -- a single blade built into the back of the cartridge -- allows men to easily trim sideburns, shave under the nose, and expertly shape facial hair expertly and comfortably.
The Fusion Power also features an ergonomic, superbly engineered razor handle with an elastomer coating that provides a secure grip, better control, and a design that is both elegant and highly functional. The on/off button is flush with the razor handle to help avoid accidental activation or deactivation, and the AAA battery is easy to insert and replace. The Fusion Power handle features an on-board microchip that optimizes the razor's performance, and it is shower-safe, so you can shave wherever you prefer. A low-battery indicator light signals when to change the power source, and the automatic shut-off turns the razor off after eight minutes to help conserve batteries. With this next-generation cartridge from Gillette, the Fusion promises to give your face the cleanest, closest, and most comfortable shave you'll have ever experienced.

Gillette Fusion Razor, one cartridge, and one Duracell AAA battery.
Customer Reviews:
Okay shave, but not worth the price........2007-06-11
The ravor gives a good close shave when the blades are fresh, but they wear out way to fast (especially for the price you pay per blade). If you go a few days between shaves this razor has a heck of a time getting through your beard. The space between the blades is so small that stubble gets caught up in there immediately. I didn't notice a closer shave with this than I get with my Mach3. Save your money and go with one of the three blade razors out there. They give you the same shave and cost a lot less
try shaving with a didgeridoo.......2007-06-06
I am keying in this review while I'm finishing up shaving with the other hand. That's how safe the safety razor has become. I've not nicked myself in over a year of use. The blade it came with lasted 3 months - but, as with previous models, the replacement blades are apparently made of less stern stuff.
The wider spacing of the blades is vast improvement over previous models. Finally, you do not need torrential water pressure to clean your razor. Actually, cleaning the Fushion reveals its best feature. Under the flow of tap water, with the motor on, it sounds much like a mini didgeridoo, the Austrailian aboriginal instrument. I don't know if this was by design, but, if you're a world music fan, it's a delightful addition to your day. This is probably why they called it Fusion. Listen next time.
Holding out for the 8-blade version.......2007-05-31
Here's what I think went down in the Gillette Marketing department recently:
Marketing Guy #1: Hm, how can we increase razor blade sales for next quarter?
Marketing Guy #2: Well, we've been selling 3-blade razors for quite awhile, why not step it up to 4 blades?
Marketing Guy #1: Better yet, let's go for 5-blade razors! Then we can charge twice as much for replacement blades.
Marketing Guy #2: Perfect. Any consumer would think that 5 blades is far superior to 3. Let's make the thing vibrate too.. that'll really blow their minds.
Marketing Guy #1: This also buys us some time for when we decide to release the 8 blade razor. Helloooo promotion!
This thing is a gimmick. It works just as well at any 3-blade razor I've tried. In fact, packing 5 blades into such a small space requires you to constantly rinse the razor, making for even longer shaving sessions. Depending on your skin, you will be more susceptible to razor burn with this razor as well.
Overall, this thing doesn't do anything better than a 3-blade razor. So, unless you have a burning desire to try the latest razor and a massive amount of money for replacement blades, stick with your current razor.
Sometimes "more" is NOT necessarily "better"........2007-04-29
In theory, the idea of this razor's having five blades is a good idea--not so in actual practice, I'm afraid. If you have sensitive or easily irritated skin your time spent shaving may be reduced but the likelihood of developing razor burn, nicks and cuts is increased. I've been using the Schick Quattro Midnight for months, tried the Gillette Fusion and went back to the Quattro. Contrary to advertising claims, my skin got considerably irritated while using the Fusion and I got quite a few nicks. If you have normal skin you may get a good and clean shave with the Fusion but men with sensitive skin should avoid it. Quality...not quantity.
Better than I expected.......2007-04-25
Before trying this razor, I was using the Mach III (which was a good razor as well, although I never used the Mach III Power); and despite my best efforts not to get sucked into advertising, I decided to try the Fusion Power after seeing the commercials. But now I'm glad I switched.
I only shave every other day, and rarely on weekends, so sometimes I'll go 3 or 4 days without shaving. And the Fusion does a great job with the extra growth. I have somewhat sensitive skin, and the "comfort guard" helps make it a smooth cut. And the power part is a big help; once I'm done, it's a closer shave than the Mach III was. I also have a goatee, and the main blade of the Fusion can actually trim the edges.
There are only 2 minor negatives to the Fusion: Cleaning out the comfort guard is a bit of a hassle, and the blue guard makes it hard to see any hair (mine is dark brown) that's been caught in it; and the battery indicator is basically useless. It's been "low" for several weeks, and a brand new battery didn't make a difference. So I guess when the razor stops working I'll know the battery is dead.
Overall, a good step up from a simple razor.
