5 out of 5 stars works like a champ.......2007-05-29

this product loaded perfectly under the Windows Vista OS and works great with MapSource and my Garmin Rino 130. I would highly recommend this product to convert USB to serial bus adaptors ....

5 out of 5 stars Great Garmin GPS Serial to USB Connector.......2007-03-14

A much less expensive Serial to USB connector than the Garmin provided cable. Very easy to setup and use.

Warning: It's best to reserve a USB port exclusively for this device (I use a 7-port hub). If you travel with a laptop, bring the install disk along just in case or just copy it to your hard drive. Most of the time I have no problems but once or twice after using a myriad of USB devices, I have had to reinstall the driver.

5 out of 5 stars Great for Hobbyists.......2007-02-16

I recently purchased this USB-to-Serial converter for some projects where I am programming PIC and Free Scale microcontrollers. It has worked flawless in every instance. It was recognized immediately in Linux and worked great once I installed the drivers in Windows. I would recommend this for any person looking to program integrated circuits!

4 out of 5 stars Easy-to-use adapter for connecting a GPS.......2007-01-24

Like other reviewers, I bought this so I could attach my Garmin eTrex Legend GPS to my new computer, which doesn't have a serial port. The mini CD that came with it had the driver and a brief user manual. The manual said to install the driver before connecting the adapter, but I didn't read it so I did things in reverse order. (No problem.) The driver on the CD worked fine, though Windows XP MCE complained about it.

Pros: MUCH cheaper than Garmin's adapter, but just as functional
Cons: Old/non-Windows-compliant driver, no mention of proper order of installation on packaging (on CD)

1 out of 5 stars Not working for me.......2007-01-11

I purchased this cable to use with my Magellan and Garmin GPS units which have a serial interface. The cable driver seemed to load properly but I have yet been able to establish communication with my GPS units on several computers. I contacted the manufacturer through their wedsite but have receiven no response. A cable sold by Garmin to do the same function costs $60, almost as much as the GPS so I thought this would be a good deal. Not yet.
