Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Not For Video Nubes.......2007-06-13

If you're into Xvid, Divx, or WMV, you will love this box. Apple and Sony people will get frustrated because their proprietary codecs aren't supported. Apple and Sony both make similar units for their followers. Apple and Sony have built a fence around their customers and their customers think they are on the mainstream because Apple and Sony act like they own the media world. Wake up Sony and Appleheads! You can't even record anything on your players, it's all locked up, and pay per view, wake up!

5 out of 5 stars Excellent way for viewing my movies in the TV.......2007-05-14

I have it since a year ago and the product is excellent. It took me sometime to configure it, but if you have basic knowledge of networking shouldn't be a problem.

2 out of 5 stars not ready for prime time.......2007-04-18

Primitive menu system
Choppy output at HD
Wireless not quite fast enough
NO PAUSE BUTTON. If you stop the video, you get to start at the beginning again.
Media Center software is at revision 0.01a

It's a good idea. Come back in 18 months.

2 out of 5 stars Doesnt Play HD only outputs in HD - Good Standard Player.......2007-04-18

Bought this product to stream HD media from PC/USB Storage. All though advertised on the box and website it does not play the HD media. I tried to play the media from all 3 available inputs (802.11(wireless), Ethernet, and USB HD) and several formats that are supported (avi,mpeg2,ts,mp4). The HD movies were choppy at best. Plays all other non HD videos without a problem. Divx videos as well(even though it doesn't say it plays them on the box). Worked well with 500GB USB Drive but not needed. Would not recommend because HD feature is useless. Dlink technical support said to take it back to the store. There technical support grade is D- .

4 out of 5 stars Excellent for video playback on your TV.......2007-04-11

I was a bit apprehensive after reading all of these negative reviews, but I thought I'd give it a try myself, and return it if it didn't work out.
Turns out I am as pleased as can be. The main thing I bought it for was to watch downloaded AVI movie files on my TV over my wireless network, and it does the job perfectly. I was surprised at the quality of the picture. No video pauses or skipping issues. I haven't had it lose the network once.
It was simple to set up. For a while it wasn't detecting my wireless network, but then I realized it wasn't the units fault, it was my wireless network. I just needed to reboot the router. After that it was effortless.
If the main thing you are purchasing this for is video playback, then buy it. It works great. But if your main objective is music or photos, it is somewhat sub-par. Its not unusable, it just could use some improvement in those areas and I'm sure there are better units out there for a music player.
I think a lot of the negative reviews are the result of people having setup problems and giving up, or people who wanted to use it mainly for photos or music.
