The Series2 has 2 USB ports, offering people with home networks the ability to stream photos and music to their TiVo, or send programs from one TiVo to another. The TiVo Digital Music Player lets you enjoy your computer's MP3 collection through your home entertainment sound system. Access and control your entire digital music collection via your TV; shuffle your music library by artist, album, or type of music; and create a custom playlist on your computer or use third-party software to develop playlists for every mood.

The TiVo Digital Photo Viewer accesses digital photos stored on your computer and showcases them on your TV. Multi-Room Viewing is designed for households with two Series2 DVRs and allows you to record a show on one DVR and send it to another if your kids are watching in the living room, say, and you're watching in the bedroom. You can also start a program on one DVR and pick up where you left off on your other DVR, as well as access the Now Playing list of a connected Series2 DVR at any time.

You can also find and schedule recordings even when you're away from home. With Online Scheduling, you'll have the freedom to schedule programs from anywhere you have a computer with an Internet connection. Just sign in to TiVo Central Online to access the same recording options you have at home.

The Series2 DVR is compatible with virtually every television available. It also works with VCRs, TV antennas, cable systems, and satellite systems. A patented universal remote control simplifies program recording and controls multiple TiVos within the home (2 devices can share your existing phone line). Good concept, but not as simple as `just plug it in'.......2007-05-23

The concept is very good and makes TV watching a better experience. However, the installation is not nearly as simple as the box and the description will lead you to believe. And if you need to contact TIVO's technical support, be prepared for a very long hold time...very long. And the support personnel are neither knowledgeable nor courteous.

Look closer at TiVo. .......2007-05-13

TiVo, when new is a great toy. But after the first year I questioned it's worth before renewing the subscription. What did it do? It copied programs, provided a program schedule, provided speed control Slowmo etc. and would record shows following what you choose. If you have cable or satellite you already have a program guild and after a few months of use I turned off the selective recording, ask it to record football and any program with foot and ball gets recorded and in less than a week your 80gig is clogged. So I let the service lapse figuring that I could record the programs manually, if there was ever any over time it always cut it off. Well no, if you do not subscribe that function is turned off and your TiVo unit becomes a boat anchor. No if I decide to get into the DVR market again I will use the Satellite of Cable DVR, same functionality for the same about fee with out having to pay hundreds for a boat anchor.

Don't know how I lived without it.......2007-05-10

Tivo is the most amazing invention since television. With very little spare time, it's wonderful to be able to sit down and watch all my favorite shows without having to plan and plot on a VCR. It makes all the best entertainment TV has to offer even better by making it available at your leisure. I guarantee you won't regret buying this. Other than you may find yourself watching a little too much of your favorite programming!

TiVo the life changer.......2007-05-08

I thought that it was pretty hokey when people would say that Tivo had completely changed the way that they watch TV. I am now a believer. I didn't realize that it would help me with my wife too because I am not worried about when stuff comes on, so if she wants to talk then so be it - I'll start the latest episode of Lost once she is done talking. So much less stress!!

I purchased this for my girlfriend and have to say that in the few years that we've owned it, we use it every day. We can record our favorite shows for weeks and watch them whenever it is most convenient. We never watch live TV and can fast forward through commercials in a matter of seconds. One of the best investments I have ever made!
