Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars This is a good one.......2007-06-07

This is my second unit. I love them both. I noticed a review that stated that these units are user friendly, do believe it. These are very easy to use. The documentation that comes with it really isn't even necessary. Like one of the other reviewers I upgraded my powerbook and had a perfectly good drive so the solution was obvious. I searched the net pretty thoroughly and couldn't find any thing this good, this reasonably priced.
It's very easy to attach your drive to sled, then just slide the sled into the housing and attach the ends and your done.
My only complaint is an extremely minor one, the blue power on light is a little bright. But a piece of tape, of something placed in front of it does the trick

1 out of 5 stars Macally USB 2 EXT Storage Enclosure for 2.5 " HDD.......2007-05-22

This one is not user friendly at all.
the documentation that come with device are not clear.
the tech support is so so.
Plug & Play, this one is not.

5 out of 5 stars It works!.......2007-05-13

After upgrading my Powerbook, I had a 20 gig harddrive just sitting around. Now it works as a back up HD. No power supply needed if used with a 6 pin firewire cord. You still need to hook up to USB port if you use a 4 pin cord. Comes with great instructions and all the cords needed. The LED is quite bright so don't stare at it too long! Well worth the money.

5 out of 5 stars Nice little enclosure.......2007-05-07

This enclosure has been bullet proof for me. Easy to install the drive. Plug and play. FireWire as well as USB. This really is a nice little enclosure. The only negative I can come up with is that the LED on the front of the case burns very bright.

If you need a 2.5 USB/FireWire enclosure, this is the one to purchase.

4 out of 5 stars Just what the technician ordered :-).......2007-04-08

I had to replace a Hitachi Travelstar 80Gb hard drive in my PowerBook G4. (used a Seagate Momentus which worked fine). I needed an interface for the Hitachi to connect it to the Powerbook to retrieve my old files (80 Gb is a lot of typing). The Macally device worked with the Hitachi drive (using Firewire AND USB -- I tried both -- Firewire wasn't as big an improvement as I had hoped). Bottom line: I got my data back with minimal expense, minimal hassle, and a simple direct connection. -a happy customer..
