Customer Reviews:
Awesome.......2007-06-08
Excellent product, I am still looking for a game that can lower the 40 fps... still haven't found it. Tested with Doom3, Command & Conquer 3, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, Call of Duty (UO expansion & version 2), and Half-Life 2, with the highest settings, the higher resolution I can (1440x900). A must have if you take the games seriously.
Amazing Card few flaws.......2007-05-23
As stated, this is an amazing card graphics wise...though it has a few flaws, but its performance far outshadows its downfalls.
1) The settings this card is capable of are amazing. I have this currently hooked up to a 42" Sharp Aqous at 1080i at 1920x1200 resolution.
All games run flawlessly at max settings with the entire screen going on. I play battlefield 2142 and it looks almost real now.
Its downfall...size. This card is HUGE, I was running SLI'd 7800GTs and this card has about 2 inches almost on them length wise. Not to mention the width of the card with that heatsink...its not an easy card to install, not to mention it is a power hog. Also, if you don't have a big box...this card isn't fitting in your system.
This card also has a known problem with S-Video, the current drivers give a greyscale picture and make it look horrible using S-Video, though you can only achieve 1024x780 with S-Video. If you use component, make sure you go into your advanced settings on the Nvidia control panel and change your input to component and the correct TV setting so the Card will know to allow higher resolutions.
If you can get over the few flaws which aren't that big...this card is a beast amongst cards and I can't wait to really test it.
video card.......2007-05-21
it si a great improvement over my old cards. and it got here in the normal time
Superb video Card - Buyer Beware when Purchasing Used.......2007-04-26
As with previous reviews, the eVGA 8800 GTX is superior in performance and ease of setup. While operating the card does run a bit warm to hot; this is normal. There are several software packages available that will allow you monitor and tweak the 8800 GTX, if you desire.
All eVGA's video cards purchased on or after June 22, 2005, comes with a lifetime warranty and is eligible for eVGA's Step Up Program - Go to eVGA's website for more details. Also, the lifetime warranty is valid for the life of the retail product, so long as the original purchaser owns the product, based upon the following conditions:
The Life Lifetime Warranty is for all retail Graphics Card and Mainboard products ending in the part numbers: AR, AX, BR*, BX*, DR, DX, FR, FX, SG, SL, or S2.
If you intend to purchase one of these gems, buy them new from a retailer. If you intend to buy used, be advised that you will not be eligible for the Lifetime Warranty, technical support nor the Step-Up Program eVGA offers. You have to be the original purchaser and the warranty is non transferable.
Top-of-the-line graphics. You can't get any better........2007-04-16
What can you say about this card? It is sort of like reviewing a Ferrari. Those who know what they are getting already know about this product. Those that don't wouldn't understand anyway. If you have the money, buy the GTX. If not, try the GTS version.
One thing to be sure of - use an nVidia certified 8800GTX power supply. If not, you will end up frying your motherboard, memory or video card. Recommendation: Cooler Master Real Power Pro 850W or PC Power and Cooling 1KW.
One other thing - nVidia just released 8600 and 8500 cards. They are in no way related to the 8800 ones, and are markedly inferior to the 8800. So be careful. Some marketing may give the impression that the 8600 and 8500 cards are just cheaper versions of the 8800, which is not true.
