Great little player.......2007-06-13

I have had this unit for eight months - it has lasted longer than any other player I have purchased, and I am very pleased. I wear this player five days a week, eight to twelve hours a day, to keep me from going insane in an extremely boring job, it has saved my sanity!

I listen to a mix of podcasts, radio and eBooks and have rarely had any any problems - I think I have had to do a major reset only once. I use MP3tag (free) if I need to organize, enumerate or otherwise change how the player perceives groups of files.

I do recommend a hard shell case that covers the screen - I had another Sansa model that became unusable after slight compression on the screen - the unit electronics were fine, you just couldn't read the screen.

I have successfully transfered video to the unit and it runs well - but an hour video takes up most of the memory and the screen is really too small to be viewable, still pics are clear but still too small - the color screen is best used to view CD covers.

The sound quality is good enough for most, but the supplied ear buds should be replaced. As to the controls, the buttons do seem difficult to access at first...but I now have no problem using them through an untucked shirt, with a hard shell case and very large fingers.

So far, my unit has hit the floor twice (about 3 feet), both times it's been in it's hard shell case - no effect on the unit - minor damage to the case.

I do not like the idea of a proprietary battery, I prefer generic rechargeables, but this battery is still going strong and is user replaceable (I recharge every other day). The charge lasts 20-24 hours in my case. If it lasts a year and costs $15, I think I am for it!

Good sound, tough, battery life..... Pretty good unit.

Great MP3 Player.......2007-06-11

Good price, reasonable ship time, excellent product! This Sansa e260 is more than I expected. Great music, easy to find a tune, radio is good, pictures and video are good. Once I found out how to load the music into it with the album art I was very happy!

Sansa 4GB MP3 player.......2007-06-10

Easy to use, great price on Amazon, has expansion slot for up to 2 additional GB. Does not come with an AC adapter. You have to hook the player up to your computer to charge, so your computer has to be on, but the player does have an impressive 20 hour battery life. Not crazy about the ear buds, am going to buy different head set.

Don't really know why anyone would buy an Ipod. Just over advertised, I guess. This player is much cheaper and the software is easier to use and manage. I do wish I had paid more attention to the hard drive size. (4GB is 4,000 minutes of music.) Would have probably have ordered the 6GB, but already bought the 2GB micro SD card, so problem is solved.

Not so great for podcasts or audiobooks.......2007-06-10

I've only been trying to find my way around this player for two days now, but am having some frustrations.

My main pleasure in using an mp3 player is listening to audio books and podcasts. My 1GB Creative MuVo was filling up too easily, so I ordered this 4GB Sansa both for the extra space and the screen, which seemed to be easier to view what was on the player. It is a very nice looking and feeling player, but I have to say it's not that great for my purposes. As has been said, waaay to easy to lose your place when listening to a book, and unless I just haven't discovered it yet, there's no way to fast forward or reverse within the part you're listening to. It's either all the way back to the prior section, or all the way forward to the beginning of the next.

I've also loaded one downloaded podcast onto it via drag/drop; when it's hooked up to the computer I can see the podcast, but can't for the life of me find it when the player is not hooked to the computer. It is compatible with the downloaded audio books from Overdrive, but not Audible.com.

Documentation is very sketchy, and it's mostly a trial and error method of finding your way around. I've successfully unloaded the music that came preloaded by deleting within Windows Explorer. I'll learn my way around, and live with this, but if you're looking for reasons similar to mine, I can highly recommend the Creative MuVo players for ease of use, and am glad I still have mine. Maybe 1GB isn't so bad after all.

Better made than the cheaper 1G player. I am surprised at the sensitivity of the FM tuner. Usually these build in accessories are very poor and pick up only the strongest stations.
