A bit quirky, but solid once up and running........2007-02-16

We only use our DFL-200 for a single VPN tunnel at a time to log into our main office from home with the DLink DS-601 software. For some reason getting into program this firewall required many resets that had to be performed differently than mentioned anywhere in the documentation... we'd press the reset switch in for about 45 solid seconds, then unplug it with the button pressed in, then turn it back on with the button still pressed in, and wait bit more... this seemed to do the trick, and we could finally log in to program it, whereas the offical way would not work.

Once in, it was all very easy, as other D-Link products we've configured. There are an impressive number of configuration and security options to satisfy those of us who wanted a bit more than just software alone could offer (although we still use desktop installed software firewalls and other tools, paranoid I know, but hey), yet without breaking the bank with the higher-end hardware offerings. We use this with the DS-601 software on our home PCs and we have been able to configure an extremely secure connection that gives us more confidence than the built-in MS options available, plus there's something comforting about not having your only server be the frontline to the outside world.

Highly recommended for security-conscious shallow-pocketed small businesses.
