The Compaq Presario MV740 is a 17-inch multimedia monitor that delivers reliability and great sound. With detachable, monitor-powered JBL speakers, the MV740 offers an enjoyable stereo experience and the convenience of a digital audio player, all encased with a flat CRT screen. Compaq also included an integrated microphone incorporating built-in, high-quality voice recognition. An easy-to-use onscreen menu provides maximum flexibility and precise control of brightness, contrast, degauss, horizontal and vertical size and position, parallelogram, trapezoid, and more. Plus, setup is a breeze thanks to plug-and-play operation.

The Presario MV740 offers a maximum resolution of 1,280 x 1,024 and an especially great-looking flicker-free resolution of 1,024 x 768 at 85 Hz. The flat, square monitor provides 15.9 inches of viewing area, and a 0.28-millimeter aperture grille pitch and antireflective, antiglare glass help ensure the accuracy of images. It has a built-in audio amplifier, stereo speakers with 3 watts RMS per channel, and a headset connection. With the audio input jack, you can plug in your digital audio player and listen without starting your PC.

The MV740 is designed for business and home applications where multimedia features are essential. The stylish case measures approximately 18 by 16 by 18 inches and weighs 37.5 pounds. It's covered by Compaq's limited one-year warranty on parts and labor.

Theres no doubt about it, this monitor sucks.
It's been giving me trouble ever since I bought it.
I sent it back but never got my money!

Besides its cool looks, the Compaq MV740 offers great graphics and sound. The JBL speakers are crisp and they are easily adjusted. Picture quality is excellent; I have a DVD player and movies look as good as they do on a TV screen. The 17" screen (15.9: VIA) is perfect for most users; if you need a bigger screen, you're probably a graphic artist (and then you'd have a Mac anyway!). I have the video cam attachment, which is a blast. You can send video messages with sound and still pictures as e-mail attachments. The software for the cam is easy to load and easy to figure out. You'll be sending mini movies the day you plug it in. All in all, a great mid-level monitor that will meet the needs of most home users.
