Use the HPS1P to connect your single parallel port printer to your home or office network. The Hawking HPS1P combined with the Internet Printing Protocol (IPP) lets you easily connect to the HPS1P and print documents by specifying the print server's IP address. With IPP technology, printing over a WAN or the Internet becomes much easier. You can send a print job to a printer in another country just as easily as sending a print job to your home or office printer. IPP eliminates the need for fax communications between offices by simply printing an original document over the Internet and sending it from one office to another without the degradation of image and text quality that fax machines produce. This is my first posting towards any product that I have bought online. I consider myself to be very tech saavy and was in need of an ethernet enabled print server. For some reason in my mind, I wanted to save money and buy something that I thought was simple enough to design and make, so I could trust any manufacture. BOY WAS I WRONG!

I could go on and on, why YOU should stay away fromt this product. I regret the day I bought it. I feel so strongly against it, that I actually took the time to write a review.

Some things I hate about it:

1. Abnormal addition to the 'add printer' dialogue in winXP. I have added printers via a print server and the hawkings folk, decided to use a very counter intuitive way of setting it up.

2. Crashes, when you need to print large documents, this thing goes nuts.

3. When multiple computers are sending jobs I don't know what to expect.

4. NO Power saving features. I like to turn off my printer when I'm not using it, well that means I also have to restart the print server as well, I can't just leave it on.

Overall this product is a piece of CRAP spend the money and get something good!

This device works perfectly. The installation was seamless. I did make one call to customer support, and gave up before they answered... but as it turns out, I didn't need their help anyway. It couldn't have been any easier.

There re much better and easier products out there. Imagine having to send the thing back to the manufacturer because it can't be reset? During config, the first one stopped responding. It can't be reset, so it went back. The second one had driver issues on three out of four windows xp systems.
They're all returned now. Avoid this product at all cost.

Gave trouble from day one -- Tried to upgrade firmware, upgrade faled, and it's non-working now...

Just completed my installation on two computers, took me at least 16 hours to figure things out.
Most important lesson is, do not rely on their so called 24/7 support. It's not really 24/7.
I called them at least 10 times.
These are the results:
1..Waited for 2 hours, and had to hang up (time for my bed time).
2..Waited for 1 hour, had to eat my dinner.
3..Waited for 45 mins, the line finally got through but no one was talking, I can hear the chair, keyboard, and coughing.
4..Voice mail keep saying the line is disconnected please dial 1800-756-7832, BUT THAT's NUMBER I CALLED. This happens quit a lot, a least 4 times.
5..Waited for 1.5 hours, then I just gave up.
6..At last, around noon at one point I called, the line went through after 30 mins of waiting. I got the tech guy. He didn't really answer my question but did lead me to the right direction (if you are not a semi-computer geek, you are doomed). The tech guy had an attitude issue, I don't know why; the only person that should have an attitude issue on the line is me.
7..I did e-mail them, they did respond within 24 hours. But it is always the same answer (the new instruction of how to install the printer server). No matter what the questions are, I always get the same answer back.

Here are the server problems that I experienced with the
1..At first I had issue with the server and my internet usage.
When the printer server software is installed, internet quit working. When internet starts, printer server quite working.
The reason for that is the ip address, don't use the default that they give you (even though it says it's ok). Use the ip address from router.
2..Only one computer works with the server. The reason is that I have Zone Alarm, and it was not playing nice.

If I was going to doing this again, it will be a piece of cake (due to experience of many trial and error). From that sense, it is a decent product to have.
However, because of the poor instruction, and customer support, I had to give this a 3 stars.
